MY INSPIRATION. MY DRIVE.

My grandmother was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy, a rare and degenerative neurological disorder often mistaken for Parkinson’s. That experience was my first real exposure to medicine and ultimately led me to work on prosthetic technologies aimed at restoring mobility. In 2020, I watched as NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley launched aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon Demo-2—the first crewed U.S. spaceflight in nearly a decade. It reignited a deep fascination with space, exploration, and engineering. A few years later, I came across Figure AI, founded in 2022 with the goal of building general-purpose humanoid robots, and Anduril Industries, a rapidly growing defense tech startup merging AI with advanced hardware. These developments reminded me of my early passion for robotics and how far the field had come. More recently, I found myself walking the streets of Shibuya City, collecting litter and reflecting on how innovation can—and should—support a more sustainable planet. I’ve always been drawn to many different fields: medicine, robotics, space, sustainability. But rather than scatter me, these experiences have revealed how deeply connected everything is. I explore new ideas, learn quickly, and grow from each step. I’m incredibly grateful for the people and moments that have shaped my journey—and I’m excited for what comes next.

The Villars Institute

Villars Symposium 2023
Villars Intensive Program on Ecopreneurship, 2024

The Villars Institute is a highly distinguished nonprofit foundation headquartered in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland, dedicated to driving systemic change toward a sustainable, net-zero, and nature-positive future. Established in 2022, the Institute serves as a global platform for intergenerational collaboration, uniting leading scientists, educators, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and youth to address complex planetary challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and food and energy security

I was nominated and received a fully funded sponsorship to attend the Villars Institute in the summer of 2023 as the only fellow from Japan. Additionally, I was one of 27 fellows in the first cohort to complete the three-part Systems Leadership course co-created by the Villars Institute and Minerva Project from 2023-24.

In the summer of 2024, I was honored to receive a personal invitation back to Villars and a scholarship to join the Villars Intensive Program on Ecopreneurship (VIP-e) with 18 other students.

Conversations with leaders in STEM

From speaking alongside top assistants to Former Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, to hearing from the world's most driven innovators, I always strive for opportunities to become more inspired and driven.

Didier Queloz

Tom Knight

Had the opportunity to hear from a Nobel Laureate, Didier Queloz, at the 2023 Villars Symposium, who discovered the first-ever exoplanet. Someone asked why he enjoys discovering exoplanets. His simple answer? "Because humans are naturally curious." Because we must apply this driving motivation to tackle the world's most pressing issues, from medicine to climate change.

At the SusHi Tech Tokyo in 2024, Asia’s Largest Startup Conference, I had the amazing opportunity to speak with Tom Knight, the "godfather" of synthetic biology, who founded the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition and YCombinator's first ever funded biotech company, Gingko Bioworks.

Jennifer Doudna

I was invited to the “Techcracker Lab” event hosted by Hong Kong's Solina Chau and her team at Horizons Ventures, as well as the Tokyo Medical and Dental University. Afterward, I spoke with Nobel Laureate Jennifer Doudna, who developed the CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technology.

In the summer of 2022, I participated in the prestigious Global Citizens Initiative Fellowship in St. Andrews, Scotland.

In 2023, I was invited as a program ambassador to give the closing remarks to a panel discussion titled Building Global Understanding Through Education, speaking alongside the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mr. Taro, a top assistant to the Former Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, Mr. Noriyuki, and other notable speakers.
